My Journey at MCM Consulting Group, Inc.
During my internship as a marketing intern for MCM Consulting Group, I managed a referendum campaign in Cedar County, Iowa, with a primary focus on improving emergency medical services and patient care. In this role, I conducted extensive market research to understand the needs and preferences of the local community. Utilizing my skills in primary and secondary research, I designed and developed a persuasive website to motivate constituents to support the referendum. This involved crafting informative flyers, executing a direct mail campaign, and coordinating with various media outlets for effective campaign outreach. Below, there is a study report on the project.
I wrote the official ballot language for the emergency medical service referendum: “Shall the Cedar County Board of Supervisors be authorized to implement a property tax, for a period not to exceed fifteen (15) years, for the purposes of creation and maintenance an essential county-wide emergency medical service (ambulance)? The amount would be $0.75 (seventy-five cents) per $1,000.00 (one thousand dollars) of assessed value on all taxable property within the county. This program will enhance and strengthen our essential community ambulance service through the provision of professional, paramedic-level emergency care, a reduction in response times, and an improvement in patient care outcomes.”
I created a website for the purpose of motivating constituents to vote for a referendum, which would improve emergency medical services and patient care in Cedar County, IA. I then utilized traffic analytics and feedback to make improvements. You can view a slide presentation of the original website below or view the current website at https://www.cedarcountyems.org.
I conducted a media channel analysis to discover how we could effectively encourage our audience to vote while maintaining our media budget. I then utilized traffic analytics and feedback to make improvements. You can view a slide presentation of the media channel analysis presentation that I gave to the board of executives below.
I devised and executed a comprehensive media plan that involved coordination with TV stations, radio stations, newspapers, and print companies for effective campaign outreach. Part of the media plan and the budget analysis are pictured below.
I also made lots of educational and persuasive content, including fliers, mailers, and handouts.
Here are two of the Facebook posts I made.
I wrote the scripts for the radio talk show interview, the news interview, and the newspaper article.
Here is a news segment I planned.
In the end, the campaign attracted lots of support, and the referendum was passed with a staggering 70% of voters voting in favor.
